Person hit by their own car at Wairarapa cemetery

A person appears to have been injured by their own car at a cemetery, police say.

Wellington's Westpac rescue helicopter has been sent to retrieve the victim from the Greytown Cemetery in Wairarapa, after the accident was reported at about 9.15am today.

"It's unclear, but it looks like someone may have been hit by their own car within the cemetery grounds," a police spokeswoman said.

"It looks like they have a leg injury. The Westpac helicopter is on the way."
