Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool won't win the league

The German as good as surrendered the crown to Manchester City - or United - after seeing his Liverpool side squander a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 at Arsenal on Friday night.

He said: "I don’t think anybody expect Manchester City, and maybe Manchester United, can think too much about how they can win the league.

"Now we have to qualify for the Champions League and finish as high as possible.

" It looks like we could be 2,3,4 [position] this year and that will be fantastic situation. Not the dream, but a fantastic situation, and that’s what we’re working on.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

"We are on our way and we have to keep the team together and improve and involve other players. That’s a job for the future."

Klopp refused to say, however, if he would try again to sign Southampton's Virgil van Dijk to help plug the defensive leaks that cost Liverpool so dear at The Emirates.

“If we find players who don’t make individual mistakes we will change everything, but they will make mistakes," he added.

"But we have to defend better as a team, 100 percent. We need to improve in all departments."
