The result of the RK Nagar bypoll, the former assembly constituency of the late Jayalalithaa, will be annouced today.

Counting of votes in under way in this constituency in northern Chennai, where Jayalalithaa won her last two elections - a bypoll and an assembly poll.

The AIADMK's presidium chairman, Madhusudhanan, is in the fray, as are the DMK's Maruthu Ganesh, and TTV Dhinakaran, a former AIADMK deputy general secretary who was once expelled from the party by Jayalalithaa (he was reinstated and elevated to the top post after her death).
