RANCHI: The winter festivities kick started in the state capital with Bollywood singers setting the mood across various events in the city on Saturday. The weekend will witness singers like Jonita Gandhi, Amit Mishra and Shilpa Rao in concerts and events across Ranchi.
Shilpa Rao performed at an event in Khelgaon while Jonita and Amit regaled audiences at an event in Harmu.

There has been a spurt in the arrival of Bollywood celebrities in the city this winter. Hotels across the city are also planning to rope in DJs of international repute for events and parties for Christmas and New Year.

With carnivals and themed parties lined up in hotels and venues across the city, Ranchi is all geared up for the party season slong with many Bollywood names, to add to the fun.

"We are planning to have a female DJ this year for our New Year Eve Bash. The names will be out soon. Since the past few years, the demand for celebrities has been increasing and they turn out to be huge crowd pullers during the party season," Richa Tirkey, an official at a five star hotel in Kadru, said.

Earlier this month, international stand-up comedian Vir Das also performed in the city. "It is finally a relief to have celebrities come over and perform in Ranchi. After I moved here from Kolkata, I almost lost track of celebrity performances or concerts," Sukanya Roy, who is currently working in Ranchi, said. She added, " But this winter, I have already attended two events - a performance by a popular Bengali band and second a stand-up comedy act. I think Ranchi is finally catching up to the tempo of metro cities."
