BATHINDA: Continuing their protest against the closure of the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant (GNDTP) in Bathinda, hundreds of its employees took out a march in the town and held a protest outside Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal's office on Saturday.

The protesters accused the state government of shutting down the state-run power plant to help out the private plants and collect money by selling the land of the plant.

"We will continue protesting till the state government reviews its decision to shut down the thermal plant. The plant is life for us and we will make every effort to save it from being closed permanently," said GNDTP employees' union general secretary Gursewak Singh.

The protesters sat outside Manpreet Badal's office for over one hour, although he was not there.
