19 C-60 jawans, their commander promoted for Kalled victory

Nagpur: State government has generously bestowed rewards on 19 C-60 jawans, including their commander Motiram Madavi, by accelerating their promotions by a step following their two victorious operations against the naxalites in the forests of Kalled and later at Kamsur in Sironcha taluka last week where eight rebel cadres were gunned down.

The promotions were announced in presence of Addl chief secretary (home) Sudhir Kumar Shrivastav, DGP Satish Mathur, Addl DG (Operations) D Kanakaratnam and other senior officials in Gadchiroli district. Mathur personally decorated Madavi with double starred shoulder strap of sub-inspector during the occasion.


Madavi, earlier an ASI, had led the operations at Kalled and Kamsur in which Maharashtra tasted the maximum success so far. The rest of the squad too were approved the accelerated promotions. Madavi has also received gallantry awards too in the past. It has been also reliably learnt that Madavi has serious threat on his life from the rebels.


DIG, Naxal range comprising Gadchiroli and Gondia districts, Ankush Shinde said several personnel have been rewarded with accelerated promotions for their brave output against the naxalites. "We have increased the numbers of such accelerated promotions for which they would have to wait for several years," he said.


In the last month, four officers of sub-inspector rank in Gadchiroli were promoted as Asst PI for their extraordinary efforts in the district against the naxalites.
