Nagpur: Archbishop Abraham Viruthakulangara spoke about spreading the message of love, peace and joy to his community and society on Sunday. He was speaking during the midnight mass at the St Francis De Sales Church on Kamptee Road. Present with the Archbishop were his concelebrate of 30 priests.

Terming the birth of Jesus a joyous occasion, the archbishop said, "Celebration of Christmas is not founded on an unknown person or it is not a fabricated story but is centred around a real person who walked on this earth flesh and blood, who had a face to show and who had a name to be called upon."

Continuing with his sermon, the archbishop said, "On this day, we celebrate the greatest gift of God to humanity in the form of his son Jesus who was sent to this world to reveal to us God's unfailing and unlimited love, mercy and fullness of life."

Referring to the turmoil, darkness and hostility that exists today around the world he said, "Let the message of God's love and mercy take root in each one of us and radiate through us and touch the lives of others. At Christmas we are called to share God's message and blessings with everyone irrespective of religion or other differences and thus build brotherhood and friendship with each other."

Reminding the congregation of message given by Holy Father Pope where he asked people to share Christmas joy with poor and needy, the archbishop added, "Let us, by our own way, make them the centre of our celebrations. Jesus, born poor, in a manger has lots of rich treasures to offer to us."
