A fire that started in the attic of a Buckeye home Saturday afternoon set the roof ablaze, according to the city fire department.

The Red Cross is assisting the homeowner, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames about 20 minutes after responding to the downtown Buckeye location in the 1600 block of East Aspen Avenue around 2:15 p.m., said fire Capt. Tommy Taylor.

The ceiling and roof of the single-story home were damaged extensively, but no one was injured, he said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
