A Special (Vigilance) Court here on Saturday allowed the Vigilance police to take arrested doctors of SCB Medical College Hospital Rabindra Kumar Jena and Sudha Sethy on remand for two days.

The Vigilance police had sought a five-day remand for interrogating them in custody, but the court allowed only a two-day remand from December 26. Hematology Department head was arrested for corruption and criminal misconduct on Thursday. He is booked in two corruption cases, including a disproportionate asset case. The Vigilance police have also arrested Jena’s colleague Sudha Sethy in connection with one of these cases.

While Jena was arrested on Thursday while he was on the run for over a month, Sethy was arrested on December 13. Preliminary investigations revealed that Jena and Sethy were misusing their official positions and showing undue favours to different pharmaceutical companies.
