Pakistan- Sugarcane growers will launch protest if problems not resolved: Hoti

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) MARDAN: Senior leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Nawabzada Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti said on Saturday that the sugarcane growers will start a protest movement if their problems were not resolved within 15 days.

Addressing a press conference at Mardan Press Club, the PPP leader said tobacco farmers suffered massive losses due to defective policies of the provincial government and now the sugarcane farmers have been forced to destroy their crop due to extremely low rates fixed by the government.

District Naib Nazim Asad Ali Kashmiri, who was also present on the occasion, said the sugar mills were not buying sugarcane from farmers despite low rates. He said a massive movement will be launched if the problem was not resolved within 15 days.
