PATNA: The Bihar Truck Owners' Association on Sunday postponed its plans to block all roads leading to Patna till December 28 in view of the ongoing Prakash Parv celebrations in the city. The association had earlier announced that the roads leading to the state capital will be blocked from Sunday onwards if the state government fails to fulfil their demands.
Around 500 members of the association gathered at the Transport Nagar here on Sunday along with representatives of Laghu Khanij Vyavasayi Sangh and decided to postpone the agitation in view of the Sikh festivities for which devotees have come to the city from across the country and abroad.
The truckers had launched statewide strike on December 18 to protest the new mining policy of the government. Apart from forming Bihar State Mining Corporation (BSMC) to control sale of minerals, the government has also made installation of GPS and e-locks on trucks and tractors carrying mining materials mandatory for checking rampant smuggling.
President of truckers' association Bhanushekhar Prasad Singh said the strike would continue until their demands are fulfilled by the government.
