Christmas event in Noida cancelled

NOIDA: A day ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Noida for the inauguration of the Magenta Line of Delhi metro from the Botanical Garden metro station, the Noida Golf Course management has cancelled the Christmas celebrations scheduled on December 25 due to "unavoidable circumstances." The management has also sent a text message to the members regretting the inconvenience caused to them, though it didn't cite any particular reason for cancelling the celebrations.
One of the members, Vinod Kapri, posted the text message he received, on his Twitter account. "Dear members, due to unavoidable circumstances, Christmas celebrations on 25 Dec 2017 stands cancelled. Inconvenience is regretted," the message read. Kapri further stated that he had made a phone call to the Noida Golf Course's reception and was informed that due to the visit of chief minister and the prime minister, the programme has been cancelled.

Meanwhile, the Golf Course management officials remained busy in decorating the premises for the VIP visit. Golf Course secretary M M Mishra and general manager Steven Menezes excused themselves from commenting on the issue. "We are busy in meetings. We can't comment on the issue," they told TOI.


R K Mishra, additional CEO, Noida Authority, also visited the premises to check preparations for the VIP visit. "The premises have been booked till Monday afternoon. I have no information about the cancellation of programme," he said.


A police officer said that the premises has been reserved as some delegates, diplomats, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, UP governor Ram Naik, Union minister Mahesh Sharma, ministers Suresh Khanna, Satish Mahana, Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, etc will attend the Magenta Line's inauguration programme. "The guest house in Golf Course has been reserved as the invitees may need to stay," he said.


The Noida Golf Course management had earlier scheduled a two-day Christmas programme on December 24 and


25. The information also reflected on its office notice board and its website. The celebration programme was held on Sunday with a few games. However, the programme for Monday was cancelled.
