Pakistan- PHC directs KP government to release developmental funds for PK-1

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 22 December: The Peshawar High Court on Friday directed the provincial government to release developmental funds allocated in the Annual Development Program for PK-1 constituency of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

A PHC bench comprising Chief Justice, Yahya Afridi issued these directives on the writ petition of former provincial minister, MPA Zia Ullah Afridi.

The court observed that the chief minister has no authority to freeze the developmental funds of any member of the provincial legislature.

Zia Ullah Afridi had submitted a writ petition in the high court, saying that the provincial government, on the directives of the chief minister, has stopped his developmental funds for the year 2017-18.

Afridi, who recently joined Pakistan Peoples' Party, was elected to the KP Assembly on the ticket of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2013 general elections but was later dispel from the party after he was arrested by the Ehtesab Commission on charges of corruption.
