Save Redman

I agree with Thursday's caller. Surely the arts council can contribute to the restoration needed for the Redman. Peter Toth chose Loveland to represent Colorado as he carved an Indian in each of the 50 states. We need to maintain the Redman.

I believe the Indian west of town needs to remain upright. It is a landmark. I see tourists stopping along the side of the road taking pictures. It is too early to lay the Redman to rest. The community needs to respond. (To whom) and where do we send donations?

School start times

If I did the math right on new school start/stop times, elementary students will add 20 minutes per day, middle school will lose 40 minutes per day and high school will lose 10 minutes per day. Then you add another loss of one hour per week for a late start. High school and middle school athletes will still leave at the same times they are now, losing more teacher contact time. I really thought this new board wouldn't rock the boat a whole lot.

This is regarding the late school times. If parents would stop being so lazy and start parenting their kids and get them to bed at a decent hour and take their electronics from them, we wouldn't have to start school later. All this is going to do is have kids stay up even later and not function at school.

School closure

So there's talk of closing the elementary school Van Buren. At the other end there's also talk about building more schools. Why in the world would you build more schools when one school's only running at 30 percent capacity? Make the students go to that school. There's a simple fix that (doesn't) require building a new building. Start thinking about easy solutions.

Stolen gas pump

Commenting on the antique gas pump stolen out front of somebody's house in Longmont. I've had lot of stuff stolen in the last few months here in Loveland. I think it's just great that we're turning into a large city. They're going turn us into Southern California here where we can't leave nothing outside.

Put politics on hold

Please, please, people, keep the politics out of the RH Line until after Christmas. You will have plenty of time to complain about something after the holidays.
