Roads are slippery and the state Department of Transportation is warning of accidents around the Capital Region that are slowing traffic early Saturday during a busy holiday weekend.

Route 7 is closed in both directions between Route 20 and Weaver R0ad (County Route 125) in Duanesburg because of a crash at 6:40 a.m., according to the DOT.

Albany International Airport is reporting flight cancellations and delays. Check the airport's arrivals and departures site for the latest information.

Power is out for over 1,500 National Grid customers in Schenectady, The utility expects service to be restored by 9:30 a.m. Check the National Grid outage map for updates.

A wintry mixture of sleet and freezing rain will slowly turn into mostly rain through the day as warmer air advances northward with a storm system tracking close to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

As this storm moves out Saturday night, colder air returns and some snow showers will be possible, forecasters said.

The Weather Service expects more snow from another storm on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.

There are Winter Weather Advisories for most of the region through at least Saturday morning. The Winter Storm Warnings were discontinued in the northern part of the region across portions of the Adirondacks, Lake George and Saratoga Region into southern Vermont.

Here's the forecast through the Christmas weekend:

Saturday: Freezing rain before 10am, then rain. High near 37. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible.

Saturday night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 10pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 10pm and 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northwest wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the morning.

Sunday night: Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 24. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Christmas Day: Snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Windy, with a west wind 8 to 18 mph increasing to 18 to 28 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14.
