(MENAFN - Gulf Times) After successful tours of England, Dubai, Sri Lanka and Australia, Qatar's Stallions Cricket Academy embarked on its very first tour of Oman, starting yesterday.
Stallions will play 12 matches with leading schools and academies in Oman in the tour, which will conclude on December 27, 2017. The tour is sponsored by IT company Infoventures and Al Riya Water Company.
The tour party consists of more than 30 members, including players, coaches and parents.
Two teams will be representing Stallions in the Oman Tour. The Under-15 and Under-12 teams both comprise experienced players, who have been training with Stallions for past few years. During the tour, the teams will be managed by qualified and experienced coaches Ashan Perera and Nilantha Abeyrathna.
'This tour will provide our players an opportunity to showcase their skills in an international competitive environment. The confidence level of the players will boost immensely as they experience other playing conditions in the region. Whilst our tours provide a lifelong experience for our players it's also a great opportunity for us to carry Qatar's name to the international cricketing circle, said Stallions head coach Sidath Tennakoon.
Stallions Sports Services is a leading cricket academy in Doha, currently providing specialised cricket coaching blended with tours, tournaments, camps and leadership training programmes, for juniors from the age of 6 years and above.
The academy in Qatar was launched with the purpose of developing the game of cricket in Qatar. The current cricket season for Stallions has already commenced at their fully equipped practice locations in Doha.
