BAYLOR CLASS OF 2018

Rank: 25

What they accomplished

  • Four-star dual quarterback Gerry Bohanon, a very late commitment, will enroll in January and should give Charlie Brewer strong competition for the starting spot.
  • Coach Matt Rhule wants to run a fast-paced offense with speedy receivers, and he signed four, including Kalon Barnes and Tyquan Thornton, who both will run on the track team. Five offensive linemen will help stock a unit that was hit hard by injuries last season.
  • The Bears had no de-commitments despite coming off a 1-11 season in Rhule's initial season in Waco.

What they need

  • Baylor has two good quarterbacks but Rhule would like to have five scholarship players at that position. Bringing in a large number of offensive linemen the last two years isn't conducive to getting the other positions filled.
  • Depth is lacking at most positions, and with 3-4 scholarships available in the spring, the Bears will focus on finding difference-makers and not just go for need.
