JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) and Shri Ram Sena (SRS) Jammu and Kashmir celebrated 127th Birth Anniversary of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, first Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State and third Chief Justice of India here on Saturday.
A function was held at Dogra Shourya Sthal Amphalla, here under the presidentship of Ved Gandotra.
Shri Ram Sena, State President, Rajiv Mahajan was the Chief Guest on the occasion who along with other members paid homage to the great leader.
The function started with reciting of Gayatri Mantra and followed by Shardhanjali to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan wherein all the dignitaries garlanded the portrait of Justice Mehar Chand.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Mahajan emphasized the people to follow the path shown by Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan for the betterment of the society.
He recalled the contribution and services of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan and referred to him as a visionary and Karamyogi.
He remarked Justice Mehar Chand as an intellectual par excellence and recalled his contributions to the state of Jammu and Kashmir as Member of Redcliffe Commission by providing connectivity Link to the state with rest of country through Gurdaspur during partition in 1947.
Rajiv said that such functions are good gesture for the betterment of the society.
“Justice Mahajan was active member of various social organizations,” he said and appealed to Mahajan Biradari members to follow on the path shown by Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan.
Among others present were Pritam Sharma, Rajinder Singh, RR Raina, Karnail Chand, Atul Sharma, Ankush Parmar and Ramesh Kumar.
