Real Madrid news: Sergio Ramos was furious after the Barcelona defeat

Real Madrid were put to the sword by a rampant Barcelona this afternoon, with Ernesto Valverde's side clocking up a 3-0 win.

Los Blancos started the game brightly but goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Aleix Vidal soured their afternoon.

The defeat means Real's title hopes are all but over with Barcelona now sitting 14 points above their fierce rivals at the La Liga summit.

And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Ramos needed calming down after the game, such was the Spain international's anger at what unfolded.

It is said the Real Madrid defender blames the defeat on Zinedine Zidane.

Zidane has been a huge hit since taking over from Rafa Benitez in January 2016, helping them win the Champions League twice in as many years.

But, despite landing the Club World Cup mere weeks ago, the Frenchman is under pressure.

Real fans were furious when, with 10 men, Zidane opted to replace Karim Benzema with defender Nacho Fernandez.

Ramos supposedly shared their feelings, and was livid that Isco was left on the bench.

Diario Gol say he was also angry at the decision to play Matteo Kovacic.

Kovacic was given the task of marking Messi but the Barcelona man caused him problems all game.

Ramos thinks Isco should have played instead and had to be calmed down at the final whistle.

With Zidane's future uncertain, Real have been linked with a host of names.

Carlo Ancelotti, Joachim Lowe and Antonio Conte could all take over at the Bernabeu.
