New Delhi, Dec 23: The Delhi Metro Magenta line which stretches from Noida Botanical Garden to Delhi Kalkaji is scheduled to be inaugurated on December 25 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reports suggest the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present at the inauguration ceremony. However, it has been reported by India Today, that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is not included in the VIP list invited for the inaugural event.

  • The magenta line will be able to connect Botanical Garden in Noida and Kalkaji in South Delhi. The duration of the commute is reported to be 19 minutes. The line will be open to the public from December 25, 5 PM onwards.
  • The trains on this line have been designed to run without a driver. However, the auto mode will be available after two years, reported Hindustan Times.
  • The new line trains are equipped with electronic LCD screens that will display information and videos
  • For safety measures, all the nine stations, that have the magenta line platforms, will have screen doors installed similar to the Airport Express Line.
  • The new line will also be the first metro line to have inter-change in NCR.
  • It will also allow the Noida passengers to reach Faridabad without going to Mandi House.
  • While speaking to Hindustan Times, the DMRC said that the ticket price for Botanical Garden to Kalkaji will be Rs 30.
  • Ten trains will be working initially on a frequency of five minutes 14 seconds.

There was an unfortunate incident this week regarding the new line where the train broke and passed through a wall but the DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal assured the passengers that it is safe, reported HT. “Trains are absolutely safe for operation. At the time of the incident, the train was not in automated mode,” Anuj Dayal told HT.
