Ten Lakh Energy Efficient Pumps For Up Farmers

In a bid to save energy and accelerate achievement of targets for BJP government’s flagship scheme ‘Power for All’, the state government would launch Kisan Uday Yojana. Under this, 10 lakh energy efficient pump sets of different capacities would be given to farmers.

Talking to TOI, energy minister Shrikant Sharma said: “While on one hand, the scheme will help in addressing the issue of energy conservation, it will reduce the input cost of farming which will contribute to a farmer’s individual economy. This will be possible as the pump set consumes 35% less energy than conventional pumps which will lead to savings. The farmer’s economy will also benefit from our recently reduced per unit cost of power.”

The launch of scheme, which takes off from Baghpat, marks the birth anniversary of farmer leader Chaudhury Charan Singh. The scheme will be rolled out in a phased manner. The 10 lakh mark is to be achieved by 2022. Districts covered in the first phase include Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ambedkarnagar, Mathura, Aligarh among others. Read More…
