Political opportunism

Dear Editor
Senior BJP leaders have been sent into oblivion. It seems ‘new India’, where over 60 per cent population is young, does not need the elderly. They are only ‘showpieces’ of the grand tradition of the past. The ‘new order’ has no qualms of using them as symbols to be taken out occasionally to save the ceremonial face of the past. For such an act, the present dispensation does not mind going around the country, bowing before the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Patel, Ambedkar and the like. In the shadow of these nationalists, these leaders would go on abusing and brow-beating the dissenting voices. The public discourse of our political class has reached the lowest possible level. Their abusive language clouds the gains, if any.
