Prabhat Kumar Sinha has been appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL). He took charge on Saturday.
With a diversified experience of more than 35 years in opencast and underground coal mining, Sinha was working as Director (Technical) in South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), prior to his current stint.
He succeeds Tapas Kumar Nag, who superannuated in September this year.
According to a release issued by the NCL, it was under his leadership that Jayant OCP of NCL registered the highest-ever single day coal production of 2.5 million tonne in FY’11.
Sinha has also represented Indian Coal Industry in the World Mining Congress at Poland in 2008; and at Istanbul (Turkey) in 2011.
