Tapaswini Express runs by electric engine
Sambalpur: The Puri-Hatia-Puri Tapaswini Express began running with an electric locomotive from Sambalpur to Hatia and Hatia to Sambalpur from Friday, said an official release. This would save precious diesel fuel and foreign exchange. Besides increase in speed, it would be pollution free. The ECoR Sambalpur Division is going for mass electrification and very soon all the trains in the division would be taken in electric traction.
BMS R’gada office-bearers elected
Rayagada: During a district convention here under the chairmanship of
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS) president Jogeswar Dash, several new office bearers were elected to the district body. While Dash retained the post of district president, Khageswar Singh and Usharani Dash were elected to the posts of district secretary and district treasurer, respectively. BMS national secretary and chief guest Gokulananda Jena inaugurated the convention and addressed the huge gathering of labourers regarding their role in nation building, industrialisation and labour welfare. State general secretary A Srinivas Rao joined as chief speaker. State vice-president of BMS and in-charge of Rayagada district Dilip Das said the BMS is a non-party labour organisation. State secretary of BMS Shantanu Kumar Mohapatra also spoke.
Nimapara school athletic meet concludes
Nimapara: The two-day Nimapara Boys’ High School annual athletic meet concluded here recently. Social worker Mahendra Singh Bhatia graced as chief guest. 285 students participated in the event. Gopal Mahakud and Tapan Nayak were the winners in the in junior and senior division respectively. Gyanaranjan Nayak was awarded as best player. Among others, Headmistress Sanjukta Mohanty, PET Ranjit Keshari Nayak, Trilochan Behera, Durga Prasad Barik, Jyotiranjan Rath, Devasmita Sahoo and Sasmita Mohapatra were present.
Rungta Mines holds Swacchta Pakhwada
Champua: The Araghat mines of Rungta Sons under Koida mining circle organsied the Swacchta Pakhwada programme here recently. Mines manager Anil Kumar Chowdhuri administrated the cleanliness pledge in which all employees participated. The mines office, Anganwadi centre and nearby village roads were cleaned under the initiative. The programme would continue till 15 days, i.e, up to December 31. Rungta Mines director Md Rastogi and Joint VP Ramu Agrawalla wished for the success of the programme.
NTPC RED reviews Talcher Kaniha
Talcher: NTPC Regional Executive Director (RED), Eastern Region II RK Srivastava visited the NTPC Talcher Kaniha recently. This was the maiden visit of RED after taken over the charge of NTPC ER II recently. Talcher Kaniha ED Ram Kuber and senior officials welcomed him on his arrival to the 3010-MW super thermal power station. Srivastava visited the Ash dyke, ESP (R and M) site, Vishnumurty site and stage-II power units of the power station. He had a review meeting with senior officials in which he shared his views on the performance of the power station.
