Entrepreneur Elon Musk’s latest SpaceX launch sent residents in Los Angeles into a frenzy after a mysterious white cloud formation was left over the southern California sky on Friday, as shown in footage shot in Santa Monica.

The Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Vandenberg Air Base shortly before 5:30 p.m. local time and the LA police department soon started receiving calls about potential UFO sightings in the Californian sunset.

The aim of the mission was to send a further 10 satellites into space, with SpaceX confirming that signals were being received successfully.
