Hundreds of MKCG Medical College Hospital staff nurses under the banner of the Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association held a cease-work stir here on Thursday pressing for fulfilment of their seven-point charter of demands.
The demands include removing the irregularities in the Odisha Nursing Service Cadre, regularisation of service under the National Health Mission revision in basic pay from Rs 5,200 to Rs 9,300 along with a grade pay of Rs 4,200, to regularise the nursing staffs that have completed six years as contractual staff and others.
It might be mentioned here that about 647 nursing staffs are required in the hospital but there are only 388 nursing staffs. They threatened that they would hold their stir till the demands are fulfiled.
Among others, association president Bhagabati Mahanta, general secretary Sibani Dash, VP Subhasmita Panda, joint secretary Kanaklata Das, Aswini Kumar Das and treasurer Madhusmita Chotray were present.
