Polluted water at Ramghat leaves people fuming

Ujjain : Filthy water of Kshipra and sewage for nearby culvert overflowed on Ramghat leaving people and tourists angry on Saturday morning.

Polluted water released from stop dam spread till Ramghat and Narsing Ghat’s bridge. According to reports, Malakhamb and Kshipra aarti is organised at Ramghat every Saturday. Water was discharged from stop dam to maintain Kshipra’s water level. However, as the water polluted it turned the river water muddy full of discarded plates, garlands and rotten flowers. Most of the tourists avoided taking a dip in the polluted water.

Akash Chaturvedi of Mumbai, said that it was impossible to take a dip in polluted water. Laxmi Vijay of Ashok Nagar said that a foul smell was emanating from the water.


Municipal corporation employees were seen cleaning the water. Sources claimed that two trucks of garbage were removed from river by afternoon.
