New Delhi, Dec 23: 34 trains, to and fro from Delhi, were delayed on Saturday due to decreased visibility, fog and operational reasons. The Indian Railways also announced the cancellation of 15 other trains and rescheduled the operations of four owning to the intense cold conditions in the national capital.

Fog and low visibility also impacted the flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Saturday.

The Meteorological Department has predicted a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius during the day, with lows of 10 degrees Celsius. Additionally, a shallow layer of fog continues to engulf the city, the department noted.

Earlier on Friday, dense fog in Haryana and Punjab led to the delay of 12 trains.While the morning Shatabdi  Express was delayed by over two hours. The Kalka Mail was delayed by two hours and 52 minutes, while the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi  Express was late by an hour and 28 minutes.  The Lucknow-Chandigarh train, which was scheduled to arrive around 10.10 am, delayed by two hours and 35 minutes whereas, the Patliputra–Chandigarh train was delayed by three hours and 33 minutes.

The Ministry of Railways on November 29 announced a detailed plan for cancellation and frequency reduction of trains traversing through fog affected areas in order to manage the train operations. This plan was implemented from December 1 and would continue till February 13 next.
