Government cancels appointment of 86 Gaya hospital employees

GAYA: The state government on Friday ordered cancellation of appointment of 86 employees of Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH). These employees were allegedly appointed in a fraudulent manner in violation of appointment norms and reservation rules. Sources said axe may also fall on college principal and four other members of the selection committee. The appointments were made in two batches in December 2016 and June 2017.

The appointments caused uproar and subsequently divisional commissioner Jitendra Srivastav appointed a three-member committee to examine the legality of the appointments. The committee found the appointment process and selection of candidates to be fully vitiated and unfair to the more deserving job aspirants. The divisional commissioner forwarded the report to the health department, which, in turn ordered cancellation of all the appointments. The government has sought compliance report within a week, said a source.

ANMMCJ principal S P Mahto said the process to comply with the government order has begun and service termination order would soon be issued. Defending the controversial appointments, the principal said, "No irregularity was committed during the entire appointment process and everything was done fairly and as per rules," he said.

Virtually challenging the findings of the inquiry committee, the principal said the report was "unilateral" as selection committee members were not given the chance to give their explanations.
