If as Trump has just lectured us about how wrong it is for Utah land policy decisions to be made by a hand full of bureaucrats in far away Washington, D.C., why is it logical that some other Washington bureaucrats come along and slice and dice Grand Staircase and Bears Ears into several smaller pieces?
Why doesn’t Trump bring his logic argument full circle with an executive order rescinding these monument designations altogether and let Utahns decide whether they should be established in the first place? Or, as has been suggested, all this is less about land management and more about grandstanding and stirring up conflict.
