A woman teacher of the Rangani Sahi Primary School at Tulsipur village under Banki block in Cuttack district allegedly forced a girl student of Class-IV to take off her clothes as a punishment over an allegation against the latter of stealing a sketch pen.

The family members of the girl have complained about the matter before the school headmistress besides lodging a written complaint at the Banki police station. As the incidence came to fore, locals on Thursday staged protest by locking the doors of the school and gheraoed it. Being informed, Block Education Officer (BEO) Himanshu Bhusan Samrath reached the school and started an investigation. As per allegation by the student, the teacher beat her in the classroom and asked her to remove her clothes in the presence of other students after the allegation of stealing a sketch pen was levelled against her.

She later narrated the incidence to her mother. Her brother, who also studies in the same class, corroborated the matter to his mother.

The teacher reportedly offended the girl’s mother on being confronted by the latter. On the basis of the complaint by the girl’s family members, the police registered a case under Sections 341, 323 and 294 of IPC.
