Anyone who regularly attends concerts knows that only so much about a performance can be said with words. 

A good concert photo immortalizes the moment and in 2017, we had plenty of moments and a heap of excellent pictures from more than 60 gigs we reviewed this year. 

We chopped the pile down to the best of the best -- the 87 most awesome concert photos of 2017, from performances both in New Jersey and just outside the borders, in New York and Philadelphia. 

The pics range from epic snapshots of music icons -- Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Lady Gaga -- down to terrific crowd candids and more.
