Sawai Madhopur, Dec 23: 32 people died and several others were left injured on Saturday after a bus carrying them fell off the bridge into Banas river in Dubi area of Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. The driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle due to which the bus skidded off the bridge into the river. The identities of the deceased have not been ascertained as of yet and the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, rescue operation is underway.

Earlier in the day, speaking to ANI, Subhash Mishra, Circle Officer (City) said that a total of 26 bodies have been recovered so far. “Rescue operation is underway to find any survivors,” he added.

Earlier in March 2010, at least 26 people, including 23 STC students were killed and 36 injured when their bus fell into the Morel river near Baunli in Sawai Madhopur. The deceased included 11 girls, a teacher, driver and conducter of the bus.
