NEW DELHI: Congress chief
Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the court order dismissing the 2G scam had vindicated the party and exposed that BJP's politics was based on "lies". He questioned PM Modi's silence on the Rafale deal and allegations about the business practices of
BJP chief
Amit Shah's son.
Rahul told a meeting of the
Congress Working Committee (
CWC) that "the biggest instrument used against our government — the 2G issue — has turned out to be fake".
He later told reporters, "2G has been a vindication. The whole architecture of BJP is about lies. If you see the 'Modi Model in Gujarat', it was a lie... What is going on is the stealing of resources of the people. Whether it is depositing Rs 15 lakh in every bank account, whether it is 2G, MSP for farmers, Gabbar Singh Tax, demonetisation ... it is all lies. And one by one, the lies are coming out."
The court order on the 2G scam found detailed mention in the over two-hour discussions of the CWC.
AICC spokesman
Randeep Surjewala said the CWC wanted to know from BJP if the party, along with PM Modi and FM
Arun Jaitley, had conspired with former CAG
Vinod Rai to malign the UPA government.
While demanding that BJP and its top leaders apologise for peddling lies about the 2G scam, Surjewala said the CWC wanted the party to be held accountable for wasting Rs 750 crore of public money by blocking Parliament for 500 hours over nearly three years over the issue.
In his first meeting of the CWC after taking over the AICC, Rahul said he wanted to "institutionalise" the brainstorming — once every two months — "so that we can hear what you want to say and what the nation is feeling".
Rahul said PM Modi's "lies" were getting exposed. "Across the country, they are questioning Modi on the economy, questioning when he insults our ex-PM," he said.
The CWC also passed a resolution praising the 19-year stint of former party president Sonia Gandhi.
