Police  arrested  a  married  man  and  forwarded  him  to  court  on  Thursday  allegedly  for  killing  a girl and  burying her body about  five  months ago.

Police had recovered  the  skeleton of the  deceased  girl after digging the soil  from a forest area on  Wednesday.

According  to  sources, one  Kirtan  Barihar (30), resident of Tikeikani  Dhaniapunj village under  Kinjrikela police station, who is married and has a daughter, had come in contact   through some source with  one Sanju Lugun (24), daughter of Grabiel Lugun, a resident of Dangajor village in  Sambalpur district.

Kirtan had developed intimacy with Sanju and met her at Dangajor village.  Kirtan promising her to  marry had started keeping physical relationship with Sanju. In the month July,  when Sanju forced Kirtan to  marry her, Kirtan allegedly  had killed her near his village and buried her under  soil in a forest area.

The police dug the soil  and recovered skeleton of  Sanju from the spot. The  family members of Sanju  identified her through her  dress which she had worn.

“After arresting the  accused, we forwarded him  to  court on Thursday. His  bail plea was rejected and  he  is in jail now,” said Kinjrikela  IIC B Bag.
