
Arrest in Crossgates Mall puppy theft case

GUILDERLAND - A 17-year-old was charged with a felony Saturday morning in connection with the October theft of a puppy from a pet store in Crossgates Mall.
Police charged Janira McCall with criminal possession of stolen property in the case involving a West Highland terrier puppy.
McCall was captured on mall surveillance cameras leaving Crossgates with the dog and boarding a CDTA bus, police said.
The dog was recovered the next day and returned to the Pet Zone, police said.
McCall was arraigned Saturday morning and sent to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail. She is scheduled to return to Guilderland Town Court at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
