Deep into added time Leicester defender Harry Maguire volleyed home at the back post after a stunning cross from Marc Albrighton to steal a 2-2 draw for the hosts.
But Neville was shocked that Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling was marking Maguire.
Smalling had just returned onto the field after receiving treatment on a leg injury and he was clearly in discomfort as he struggled to jump to head the cross.
Neville was also critical of United goalkeeper David De Gea for not coming to claim the cross.
Chris Smalling has just come back onto the pitch into a central defensive position, I cannot believe he’s gone back on in there
“You can’t believe it, he (Jose Mourinho) cannot believe it," Gary Neville said on Sky Sports.
"And I have to say, have I just seen what I have just seen?
"It’s an unbelievable cross from Albrighton.
"But Chris Smalling has just come back onto the pitch into a central defensive position, I cannot believe he’s gone back on in there into a position to pick up the best header of the ball at the back post.
"You see him limping there at the back post with Ashley Young, and it’s incredible.
"He had a chance in the first half Maguire, it’s an unbelievable finish to this match.

"The quality is wonderful from Albrighton, the finish is fantastic.
"You have to question whether De Gea should be out there, it’s three yards out from goal.
"But take nothing away from Leicester, a wonderful moment for those fans."
Leicester claimed a point despite being down to 10 men, with Daniel Amartey receiving two yellow cards midway through the second half.
A brace from Juan Mata turned the game on its head after Jamie Vardy had given the Foxes the lead.
