Rohit’s record joint fastest century powers India to 260 in second T20I

Riding on a blistering hundred by opener Rohit Sharma, Team India posted a mammoth 260 runs in their allotted 20-overs in the second T20 international of the three match series at the Holkar Stadium here tonight.

Put into bat after losing the toss, the men in blue skipper Rohit came out all guns blazing and attacked the bowlers right from the word go.

The 30-year-old scored his second T20I century off just 35 balls which is the second fastest century in the T20 format. He was well supported by other opener KL Rahul and the duo stiched a 165-run partnership for the first wicket.

Rohit fell in the 13th over on his individual score of 118 which was decorated with 12 boundaries and 10 sixes.

His dismissal saw MS Dhoni joining Rahul and both of them kept the run rate flowing as they thrashed every Lankan bowler to each and every corner of the park. The aggressive batting took the hosts past the 200-run mark in the 16th over.

Rahul was dismissed in the 19th over with India’s scorecard reading 243 runs. The opener smashed a 49-ball 89 runs which included five fours and eight sixes.

The final over however, witnessed the fall of three India wickets as Dhoni (28), Hardik Pandya (10) and Shreyas Iyer fell while going for power hitting.
For Sri Lanka, Thisara Perera and Nuwan Pradeep scalped couple of wickets each.
