Kota: A male infant, around a day-old, was found abandoned in the creche of Jay Kay Lon Hospital in Kota on Saturday. The infant, though healthy, has been kept under observation in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This is the second incident of a child being abandoned in the hospital premises in a week.

"The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Saturday noon was informed of a male infant abandoned in the creche of Jay Kay Lon Hospital following which the CWC team went there and directed to admit the infant in the hospital," said Harish Gurubaksani, chairman, CWC, Kota.

As a precautionary measure, the infant has been kept under observation in NICU at Jay Kay Lon Hospital, said Gurubaksani, adding that the child is in sound health.

"Around 2.30pm, someone left the infant in the creche following which I informed CWC and police," said B L Meena, security guard at the creche.

Earlier this week, a male infant hardly a day or two old was left abandoned in the same creche, he said. The infant is healthy and would soon be shifted to the guardianship of an NGO working for the same cause, he said. tnn
