Game of Thrones season 8: Star teases final season will go out with a 'BANG'

GAME OF THRONES fans still have a long wait until the highly-anticipated eighth and final season but one star has already dropped a huge spoiler.

Speculation surrounding the final moments of the hit series have been rife with many viewers predicting who will sit on the Iron Throne and whether the White Walkers will take over Westeros.

But whatever the outcome, Ben Crompton, who plays Night’s Watch brother Eddison Tollett, has teased the hit HBO series will go out with a “bang”.

Speaking to the Metro: “We’re currently filming. I think the shoot goes on probably till next year.

“Even though there’s only six episodes, there’s a lot to shoot because it’s the last one. We’re going out with a bang.”

I’d be surprised if people are disappointed

Ben Crompton

The 43-year-old admitted he would be “surprised” if fans of Game of Thrones were disappointed with the ending but acknowledged people will always be divided.

He continued: “However [creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff] choose to end the show there’s always going to be people who have their opinion about how the show should end.

“I’d be surprised if people are disappointed because there’s a lot of effort and love gone into this, and I think it’s very satisfying. So hopefully everyone will agree.”

The English star revealed he is shocked his character, who fought alongside Jon Snow (played by Kit Harrington) at Castle Black, has lasted so long in Westeros.

“I’m grateful and so is my mortgage,” he joked. “In a way I’m surprised just because, just for a character to have that longevity in a show where characters get killed off so regularly.”

Fans of the show are still in the dark about when the final season will hit TV screens but Sophie Turner (plays Sansa Stark) recently dashed viewers’ hopes that it was coming sooner rather than later.

When asked by Variety if she was excited about season eight premiering next year, she corrected them, noting: "Game of Thrones comes out in 2019.”

"We started in October, so we're maybe like a tenth of the way through. We've got six or seven months left."

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
