William Edward Hays, 72, of Alma passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at a Fayetteville hospital. He was a farmer for the Hays Farm and a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was born July 28, 1945, in Marysville, Mo., to the late Argyle and Fannie (Smyzer) Hays and preceded in death by a brother, Argyle Hays Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary (Hoffman) Hays of the home; two daughters, Paula Miller and husband James of Cabot, Ark., and Karla McMurray and husband Toney of Alma; two sons, Dr. William Hays of Irving, Texas, and Wayne Hays and wife Kristi of Alma; three brothers, Donald Hays and wife Joan of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Ronald Hays and wife Treva of Littleton, Colo., and Richard Hays and wife Myrna of Murray, Iowa; one sister, Shirley Monday and husband Gene of Parkersburg, W.V,; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Tiffanee Miller, Alexis Miller, Stephen McMurray, Clayton McMurray, Jackson McMurray, Bailey Hays and Jared Hays; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Concord Baptist Church with interment at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Pallbearers will be William Hays, Wayne Hays, Ryan Miller, James Miller, Toney McMurray, Stephen McMurray, Clayton McMurray, Jackson McMurray, Bailey Hays and Jared Hays.
