Market Now: Adani Transmission, Adani Power keep BSE Power index up

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Power index was trading 0.64 per cent up at 2,362 around 11:25 am (IST) on Friday, backed by gains in Adani Transmission (up 7.41 per cent) and Adani Power (up 7.14 per cent).
Shares of Reliance Infrastructure (up 4.60 per cent), Tata Power Company (up 2.31 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 2.14 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 1.48 per cent), NHPC (up 1.36 per cent), ABB India (up 0.64 per cent), KEC International (up 0.55 per cent) and Reliance Power (up 0.50 per cent) were also trading up in the power index around that time.
On the other hand, GMR Infrastructure (down 2.01 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.59 per cent), Siemens (down 0.42 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 0.38 per cent), JSW Energy (down 0.23 per cent), NTPC (down 0.22 per cent) and PTC India (down 0.09 per cent) were among the losers in the BSE Power index around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 154 points up at 33,910, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 36 points up at 10,476.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.
Bharti Airtel, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, State Bank of India, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys and Mahindra & Mahindra gained over 1 per cent in the Sensex index.
However, Coal India, Bajaj Auto, Power Grid Corporation and Tata Steel were trading among the losers of Sensex kitty.
