Haveri: The district has turned a beehive of political activities in the run-up to the assembly elections. The chief minister's Sadhana Samavesha and BJP's Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana rally are coinciding on Saturday. Both the Congress and the BJP are striving to make their respective programmes a success.

A huge pandal is being set up at Hosamani Siddappa district stadium for the CM's programme. Meanwhile, the BJP district unit is preparing to welcome the Parivarthana Yatra led by party's state president B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday at Shiggavi and Hanagal.

Local leaders from both the parties have put up banners and hoardings by the roadside in Haveri to accord a warm welcome to their top brass. The district administration is repairing roads while the police department is taking suitable measures to maintain law and order during the rallies.

"Chief minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 333 crore in Haveri and Byadagi assembly constituencies. The Sadhana Samavesh is being held to mark the achievements of the state government," said Haveri district minister Rudrappa Lamani.

BJP vice-president C M Udasi said that the Parivartana Yatra will start from Shiggavi on Saturday in Haveri district and on the same day it will be held in Hanagal.
