Weather forecast: Once fog burns away, warm temps for Friday

Judging from our seven-day forecast, it looks like Santa might want to bring a change of clothes when he arrives in Central Florida on Christmas Eve. But first, let's see what Friday's weather looks like.

We’ve kicked off our Friday with another round of locally dense fog, but expect it to burn off by mid-morning.

An east to northeast flow may keep temperatures slightly cooler than Thursday, but we’re still forecasting well-above average highs under a mostly sunny sky. We have more sun and warmth in store this weekend.

Our unseasonably warm pattern remains in-tact, even after a weak front dissipated over us on Thursday night. We can thank a strong area of high pressure, which will provide us more sun and warmth Friday afternoon, with highs either side of 80 and cooler air along the coast.

As this high drifts toward Cuba the next couple days, it will provide us a southwest flow and reinforce the warm and humid conditions we’ve had in place all week.

More areas of dense morning fog are expected for Friday night and Saturday night, with sunshine and upper 70s to lower 80s over the weekend.

A stronger front may bring another broken line of isolated sprinkles before sunrise Christmas, and knock our highs back slightly into the upper 60s and lower 70s under a partly sunny sky. No big cold snaps are headed our way.

The surf forecast improves slightly for Friday, as we get into more of a north-northeast swell and easterly swell mix.

Wave heights will run one to 2 feet on average, but could occasionally push up to three feet.

A change in wind direction, added chop, and slightly bigger waves will lead to a moderate rip risk, but a lower risk is in store Saturday and Sunday.
