PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Newly elected council president David Salvatore announced his chief of staff Friday morning.

Emily Martineau will replace Cyd Mckenna as chief of staff to the Providence City Council.

Martineau has worked as the external communications director at Rhode Island Housing since May 2016 and before that, worked in the press office for the Rhode Island attorney general.

"As a Providence resident, I know how meaningful the Council's work is to all those who live, work and visit here. I look forward to helping the Council advance its ambitious agenda for improving our neighborhoods and moving our city forward," Martineau said in a news release.
