New Delhi: The second T20I between India and Sri Lanka at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore saw the Rohit Sharma-led side create some records. The stand-in captain smashed a joint-fastest hundred off 35 balls to equal with South Africa’s David Miller. Not only this, India went on to post their highest team total in T20Is- 260/5. Team India’s previous best was 244/4 against West Indies at Lauderhill in 2016.
Rohit was also involved in the record opening stand for India with KL Rahul. The duo added 165 for the first wicket going past Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan’s 158 in November this year against New Zealand. Rohit and Rahul’s 165 now happens to be the third best opening partnership in T20Is.
India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma Scores Joint Fastest Century in T20Is
India had a chance of going past highest team total in T20Is, 263/1, which is currently held by Australia. However, towards the end, the home side lost wickets in quick succession and thus ended three short of the record total. Nonetheless, India have equalled Sri Lanka’s 260/6 against Kenya in 2007 as the second joint-highest total in T20Is.
