Noida: The family members and counsels of 16-year-old juvenile, accused of murdering his mother and sister in a high rise society in Noida Extension on December 4 night, believe he is innocent.
The juvenile's counsels, in the presence of his father, told TOI that they have initiated legal measures in the matter. On Thursday, the boy's father came to the juvenile home for a weekly meeting. He was accompanied by three lawyers-Pradeep Sharma, Ajay Gupta and Prashant Sharma.
The juvenile's father refused to comment on the issue, and asked the lawyers to speak. Counsel Pradeep Sharma said the family believes the juvenile is innocent. "The police have not filed a chargesheet in the case. We do not know what charges have been applied against him. We will go through it once it is filed. We believe he is innocent," Sharma told TOI.
"It is the job of the police to find the real suspect," Sharma said when asked if the juvenile is innocent, who is the suspect. The juvenile's counsel said they have met him in the home. "We interacted with him and he looked depressed. He is a student of Class X in a private school. There is no proper mechanism for him to study in the home. Since his board examinations are scheduled in March 2018, we will soon move a bail application for his release so that he prepares for examination," Sharma said. The 42-year-old mother and her daughter (12) were found murdered at their 14th floor flat in Noida Extension. The juvenile's father was travelling out of the city in connection with his business while his grandparents were in Dehradun to attend a marriage function when the crime took place. The juvenile suspect went missing after the incident. A team of Noida police apprehended the accused near Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi on December 9, after he made a phone call to his father following an emotional breakdown. Police claimed that the juvenile admitted to have killed his mother and sister with a cricket bat, pizza cutter and a pair of scissors in a fit of rage after he was beaten up over studies earlier. In a confessional statement, the accused told cops he was frustrated due to inferiority complex with younger sister, and frequent beating and scolding by parents.
