Police have apprehended 542kg of intoxicating herbs in Nagalam Street, Colombo, which were brought into the country from Zambia to be re-exported to countries such as USA and Britain as green tea.
Police Media Spokesperson's office noted that the stock of intoxicating herbs was found during a raid conducted last morning by the Police Narcotics Bureau.
An 18-year-old female and 31-year-old male suspect who have been arrested in connection to the incident are residents of Kelaniya and Wellampitiya respectively.
Investigations have revealed that the intoxicating herb is a plant species grown in Zambia.
