The 55-year-old This Morning favourite filmed himself as he tested outlandish flavours of the spirit, sharing the whole experience with his fans via Snapchat.

First, he bravely tackled a lavender one, announcing: “It’s lavender time."

Pulling a pained expression, he declared: “There’s flowers in my gin. I don’t like flowers in my gin.”

Next, he moved on to an even more unusual flavour, saying: “Well, sorry but I don’t like lavender gin. So we’re now in full experimental mode: cardamom gin.

“Lay it on me,” he added, pouring the small bottle over ice before taking a sip.

Looking thoughtful, he said cryptically: “There is a hint of the East.”

Phillip Schofield could be seen getting visibly cheerier over the course of the hilarious clip and several tiny bottles of the interestingly-flavoured alcohol.

“Okay, not gonna lie, you know I’ve been worried about this one,” he continued, moving on and holding up a small bottle of rhubarb gin. “Rhubarb? Really though?

“Well, I’m doing this for you,” the ITV presenter mumbled, taking a swig.

After a short pause, his mood appeared to pick up as he exclaimed: “Actually that’s not bad!”

Giggling slightly, Phillip explained that he was then going to try the rhubarb and ginger simply by adding it to his half-full glass of rhubarb gin.

“So, let’s complete the experiment,” he said, diving straight in.

“That is indeed double rhubarb with a little bit of ginger,” he decided, before announcing tipsily: “I love you.”
