Medium sugar edges up on mild demand

Mumbai, Dec 21 (PTI) Medium sugar edged up at the Vashi wholesale market here today following mild demand from stockists and retailers.

However, small sugar slipped owing to poor offtake from millers and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar (M-30) inched-up by Re 1 per quintal to Rs 3,340/3,661 from Wednesday's closing of Rs 3,340/3,660.

However, small sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 16 per quintal to Rs 3,240/3,400 as against Rs 3,256/3,400, yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,240/3,400 (Rs 3,256/3,400).
